New supplies, and mysteries, a lot of color testing Potter’s Pink, and seeking out those lavenders, February brought a mix of sketches.
This is the page that launched the lavender search. I was trying to color match the post card, and didn’t quite get the results I wanted.
I do love to sketch art supplies!
Here is the great search for how to make that lavender I was going for earlier in the month. Then I had to dive into Potter’s Pink and really get a true feel for what it does!
Have not done nearly what I hoped to do for the sketching, or anything else. Pandemic and lockdown continues to interfere with my ability to sketch. However, I did make a few pages, and I’m loving how what I’ve learned in Sketchbook Design is really making my pages look so much better!
I’m working with collage here, and text blocks. I do tend to favor contained spreads. I always have liked that many windows look!
The best part of these pages is how they capture the moment, and bring back the memories, which is ultimately what I want my sketchbook pages to do! I may not be participating much, but I’m learning so very much!

It sure is hard for me to sketch in Lockdown! However, here is a little page to capture a variety of bits and bobs from December.
I had done the staircase clutter sketch in the style of Stephen Reddy, using ink wash instead of watercolor.

Comparing the colors of Polychromos, Albrecht Durer, and Derwent Inktense to see how they compare and to find matches.
I had a variety of pens and items I’d received via my Sketchbox subscription, so I tested those out.
I was gifted an old set of Arteza brush pens, so here was my color chart and testing of those.
Testing various shades of grey, grey brush pens and pencils. I do love the warm greys!
Wardrobe sketches!
I really liked how Liz Steel sketched her garments and I copied it directly to try to figure out what made it work for me. It seems so much more dynamic than my typical wardrobe sketches! I decided the border line really helped, the outlined labels, and the shadows.
Two days later I would sketch some new clothing items I purchased and I used my usual style to compare.
Starting Liz Steel’s Sketching Now Foundations, again, and here is my Intro 1 assignment.
